SkyLight launched this June by introducing three talented young women to the EDM business community during its biggest week of the year.
The non-profit, founded by artist manager Stephanie LaFera (Little Empire Music) and media professional Kerri Mason (Billboard, inthemix), aims to light a path to success for aspiring female entrepreneurs and businesswomen in electronic dance music.

SkyLight provided travel and accommodations to EDMBiz in Las Vegas for the inaugural recipients of the SkyLight Grant, who were selected based on essay submissions detailing their businesses and goals. Once there, they were matched with mentors in their field, feted as the guests of honor at an influencer-packed cocktail hour, and brought to the podium of EDMBiz, the two-day business conference hosted by Insomniac Events.
“Being a 23-year-old entrepreneur trying to create my own success in the dance music realm, and about to speak on a panel at a conference revolving around my sole passion,” said grant recipient Alexa Ahrem of Philadelphia-based promotion company East Side Electro. “I really can’t even put into words how I felt about it.”
